What does feng shui mean?
Feng shui originated in China and when translated from Chinese, it means "wind and water".

What makes Feng Shui Tao different?
We have created a true balance between the art and science of feng shui. Combining the sciences of Environmental Health, Psychology, Cultural Anthropology, and Spatial Energy with the art of design, our approach becomes truly holistic. Another distinct difference is that we do not believe in using a fear factor as a method of change. For example, you might have read, “if you don’t have a dragon in the northeast corner you will never find true love”. This for us is unacceptable and only ends up scaring people into incorporating items that they don’t wish to apply to their spaces. We do not believe that you need to have Ba-Gua mirrors, chimes, or hanging crystals to achieve positive feng shui. Also, we have spent a lot of time researching the essentials needed to customize and create results for our clients. In doing so, our services serve your needs. Our work succeeds because of both, the intricacy of detailed recommendations we provide as well as the education we pass on to our clients which empowers you to make conscious changes in your lives and your environment - something that can be had and cherished for a lifetime.

How much does it cost and why do the prices for consultants vary so much?
Feng Shui Tao was developed to be both intricately holistic and affordable. We determine the cost of a project depending on square footage, time committment, amount of work invloved, and the specific needs and concerns of our clients. There is an enormous disparity when it comes to the costs involved depending on the consultant. The two reasons for this, first, being that there are few consultants in the tri-state area that are committed to feng shui full-time. Most consultants practice feng shui only part of the time and therefore can afford to charge less. The second reason is that other consultants do not offer the level or detailed deliverables of Feng Shui Tao. Our consultations include, specific recommendations, beautifully designed presentations, and follow-ups to review the process as well as the results that are being experienced. For us Feng Shui Tao is not only a passion but a career and so it is approached with 100% of our time and committment. Marginally more expensive than other consultants, our clients pay for true one-on-one personalized attention, our deep and thorough knowledge, and an education about feng shui, which they can hold onto for a lifetime. Remember, you get what you pay for, so make sure you take time to find the consultant that is right for you, not just your budget.

Does it really work?
We are asked this question a lot and are not keen on the word “work”. The term "work" assumes a more magical connotation to feng shui, which we am aiming to demystify. Like anything in life, the answer really depends on you. If your attitude and intention is in the right place, you will see changes throughout your life. However, it is important to remember that feng shui is not a quick fix. There aren’t any time frames or exact measurements. When you have your heart and mind set on making changes not only in your environment, but in your life, feng shui can be the catalyst to those physical and spiritual realizations and manifestations. If you are self-involved, lazy, irresponsible or just expecting things to change without putting forth the effort, change will always feel as if it were on the distant horizon and your goals will never be realized.

How many schools of feng shui are there?
There are several different schools, but all of them were born from the same desire to create harmonious relationships and atmospheres between man-made structures and nature. Feng Shui Tao is based around The Pyramid Way, which was founded by Nancilee Wydra. She has helped to modernize the old feng shui principles and explore the myths and reasons as to why certain beliefs were held. In doing this, she has helped many people gain the powerful benefits feng shui by applying it to today's modern and changing world.

Who uses feng shui?
Many different people from many different cultures use feng shui. It was founded in China over 3,000 years ago, so the Far Eastern cultures still actively practice feng shui today, which for them is a way of life. With the new awakening, or as we like to say, our "reawakening" of ancient beliefs and practices, feng shui has re-emerged and has found its way to the West. From business professionals to celebrities, feng shui is widely utilized throughout the world. An interesting fact is that Donald Trump or Leona Helmsley won’t build a building without consulting a feng shui master.

Why would people use feng shui?
People use feng shui for different reasons, some to focus on a specific aspect of their space or lives, but most common is so that they can achieve a sense of holistic design, harmony, and comfort throughout their work or living environments.

Can’t I just read a book on feng shui and do it myself?
You can, but we have seen a many people frustrated with this method. They find a lot of contradictions as well as strict rules that don’t necessarily resonate with them. We always recommend that you do research about the different forms and schools of feng shui so that you are educated about ithem and then seek out a feng shui consultant that you feel understands your needs. Often times the experience and application of feng shui is more effective and invigorating when you are working with a feng shui professional. This interaction and the ability to ask questions is what I have found most useful for those choosing to incorporate feng shui into their lives.
